WHY FOOD SECURITY?

Food is what keeps us nourished and healthy, connected to community and to land. However, not everyone can access healthy, culturally safe food every day. The CRFSN's mission is to connect individuals with the food supports they need - and you can be a part of it!

There are numerous ways to be a part of combating food insecurity. Volunteering with some of the wonderful programs hosted by the CRFSN's member organizations is just one way to start. Scroll to see the opportunities that exist, and fill out our application form below to join the cause of creating food security for all.

VOLUNTEER NEED-TO-KNOW

Criminal Record Check (CRC)

The Provincial Criminal Records Review Act requires that all employees and volunteers obtain a criminal record check administered by a municipal Police Department at the employer’s expense.

You will need to provide a copy of your CRC in order to volunteer.

Compliance

Volunteers may be asked to complete paperwork, provide updated information (including proof of insurance), or complete a criminal background check for certain volunteer roles.

Failure to complete these requirements may disqualify a volunteer from serving in a particular role.

Responsibility

Serving in a volunteer position requires good judgment and management of reasonable risks.

All volunteers will be given a general orientation and a specific training to understand and manage the risks in carrying out their specific jobs.

Terms of Disqualification

The CRFSN is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for both staff and volunteers.

Volunteers who do not comply with the Mutual Code of Conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including and up to disqualification and/or removal.
