Bring your reusable shopping bags and 'shop' from a variety of rescued foods including fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, non-perishables, and frozen foods while supplies last. No registration required, just come pick up a ticket at 4:50pm.

Food Bank at St. John's

Tuesday and Friday, 10am to 12pm

The Food Bank offers guests a selection of produce, bread, and usually some protein items. Guests may choose from a menu of staple foods and hygienic items, or a pre-made hamper of items that is ready to take home. Guests without kitchen access may choose a pre-made hamper of ready-to-eat items.

Living Edge – Broadmead

Since 2011, Living Edge has been freely providing groceries on a weekly basis. We specialize in providing fresh food – not just canned goods – to local residents. Today we provide food for seven neighbourhood markets in the Greater Victoria Area.

At the Broadmead location, we count up all the guests that are present at 3pm, and then throw that many numbers in a bag and mix them up. We then hand out those numbers (now in random order) to the guests that are there. Everyone after that first count gets the next number in sequence and so on right until the end at 5:30pm.

Living Edge – Esquimalt

Since 2011, Living Edge has been freely providing groceries on a weekly basis. We specialize in providing fresh food – not just canned goods – to local residents. Today we provide food for seven neighbourhood markets in the Greater Victoria Area.

The Esquimalt location is the newest neighbourhood market to join our family of markets. At this location, after 8:30 a.m., tickets are distributed lottery style, randomly pulled from a bucket. This makes the shopping times more equitable and eliminates any congregating and squabbles about who is first. The initial group of 10 shoppers is asked to return at 10:50am and every other group of 10 is 15 minutes apart. Our last 'shop' is at 12:35 pm.

Located in the Quadra Village area, our original neighbourhood market is still going strong today. We hand out tickets at this market at 10:30am sharp (which are called back in random order starting at 11am).

Oaklands Community Centre

The Oaklands Pantry is a by-donation, accessible, and sustainable food program. We offer produce, bread, dairy, eggs, and pre-prepared frozen meals, reducing food waste and increasing community food security.

Sanctuary Youth Centre

Youth aged 14 to 22 are invited to drop in for a hot meal, laundry, clothing and self-care supplies, showers, fresh and non-perishable food, or just to hang out. We are pet friendly!
